Brinjal and red amaranth
Black and white fig trees. Vegetables and fruit trees are grown as part of the project’s skills
upliftment programme. Planted in between pedestrian paving and warehouses, they create
an urban ecosystem.
Vision
Mielie crop
From the start, Green’s vision was to create
an urban farm set-up and to attract local
artists and artisans who could impart
their skills within the framework he has
provided. Victoria Yards offers a place of
employment, training and integration
of local residents who are involved with
children’s programmes and greening. The
upgrading of the Jukskei River and the
creation of a natural swimming pool are
also part of his vision, and these aspects
are currently underway.
Lorentzville is home to the head office of
well-known fast food chicken business,
Nando’s. LSA
