the heart of Sandton. It is
conveniently situated close
to Sandton City Shopping
Mall and the Gautrain
station. Although the
landscaping component
is a relatively small part
of the site, it is entirely
appropriate for the stylish
and upmarket building.
ertha Wium, owner of Bertha Wium
Landscape Development, was
Bbriefed to create a ‘landscaped street
announcement’ as the hotel fronts directly
onto Katherine Street, a permanently busy
thoroughfare. She was also required to
enhance the two deck levels around the
swimming pool in a sophisticated and
minimalistic way. “The client accepted our
proposal for a modern, formal and stark
look, and it is this simplicity that created
the required impact, giving strength to the
design and catching the eye,” she states.
