           the heart of Sandton. It is
           conveniently situated close
           to Sandton City Shopping
           Mall and the Gautrain
           station.    Although      the
           landscaping component
           is a relatively small part
           of the site, it is entirely
           appropriate for the stylish
           and upmarket building.


               ertha Wium, owner of Bertha Wium
               Landscape  Development,  was
           Bbriefed to create a ‘landscaped street
           announcement’ as the hotel fronts directly
           onto Katherine Street, a permanently busy
           thoroughfare. She was also required to
           enhance the two deck levels around the
           swimming pool in a sophisticated and
           minimalistic way. “The client accepted our
           proposal for a modern, formal and stark
           look, and it is this simplicity that created
           the required impact, giving strength to the
           design and catching the eye,” she states.
