PROJECT
Benches have strong lines and their stark,
white colour forms a subtle link between
the building and the landscape.
Installation
This was initially challenging as large
amounts of paving and an old water
feature needed to be removed from site
before installation could take place. The
time line from the client was also very
strict and they wanted the installation to
be completed before the end of winter.
A drip irrigation system has been installed
to most of the site in order to reduce water
consumption and target water usage to
select areas only.
Maintenance
FSG Property Services has been awarded
the maintenance contract for the site.
Daily/weekly maintenance includes the
mowing of lawn, cleaning and sweeping
of paved surfaces, trimming of plants and
maintenance of the irrigation system.
Seasonal maintenance includes cutting
back of grasses to ensure that seasonal
varieties can regenerate, and topping up
of mulch and fertiliser as needed.
Transformation
Van Wyk says she thoroughly enjoyed
working on this project and was excited
to transform what had been a hard and
uninviting space into a green zone that
could be used by people, birds and insects.
“I look forward to seeing the landscape
mature and evolve over time,” she says. LSA

water consumption remains low
