              he site previously housed
              Barloworld’s Corporate, Logistics
          Tand Equipment head office. Phase
I of the development is complete, and
          features an urban framework with
outdoor spaces and a green spine, around
which two future phases will be built.

          Landscape installation
The landscape installation was carried out
by FSG Landscaping, under Carl Kruger
and Marco Hardijzer, and their brief from
the client called for the installation of large
trees and grassland species that would
provide an established look. All planting
          is indigenous and low maintenance.
           Soft landscaping comprises tree
planting in the retail parking area, around
a children’s play space and in three
          constructed circular planters within a
small gathering space. Each of these
planters contains a mature, 1000 litre
          Syzigium guineense tree, underplanted
          with Plectranthus.
           These planters, constructed of brick
and a smooth concrete coping, also serve
as seating. Ascending a flight of stairs
towards the Curro School, small concrete
pots have been placed on the edges
          of a colourfully decorated staircase;
on reaching the Curro School level, an
open piazza has four large planters, with
          irregular shapes and rounded edges.
          These contain Harpephyllum caffrum,
          Scabiosa, Aloes, Agapanthus and
Asparagus ferns. One of three circular planters, also serving as seating, contains a 1000 l Syzigium guineense tree
