PROJECT                                                                                    FEATURE

           including soccer, cricket, netball, basketball,
           volleyball and hockey. The space also allows
           for passive recreation such as picnics and
           watching activities from a central, grassed
           terrace. As the site has a considerable slope,
           a decision was taken to terrace the courts,
           creating definition for the activities and
           controlling stormwater runoff from the site.
            De Abreu adds that the location of the
           new facility was strategic: the site sits in the
           centre of the estate, and accessibility was a
           key factor. It is also positioned adjacent to
           the Mozzafiato complex, a family facility
           with a variety of food offerings, pools and
           function venues.
            A play area was a strategic part of the
           offering, as children and family activities are
           crucial to the success of this type of facility.
           It was designed along with the sports
           precinct and is positioned closest to the
           restaurants, enabling parents and players
           to leave their children in a controlled and
           supervised area.

           Construction
           The facility was constructed as a whole,
           with earthworks and civil design being
           an important component in getting the Tennis and pickle ball courts
           site ready to receive the courts. The court
           surfaces and top structures then followed.
           The estate undertook bulk clearing and
           rough levelling of platforms, construction
           of the retaining walls between the various
           platforms, and construction of the paved
           parking area. Landscaping and irrigation
           were carried out by the estate’s in-house
           team.

           Turftech undertook the following work:
           • final level adjustments on the platforms
            before importing base layers, thereafter
            constructing all the court bases, final
            levelling and compaction. The principle
            was the same for all the courts, with a few
            minor differences between the various
            bases;
           • installation of all paving in between the
            courts;
           • supply and installation of all the above-
            mentioned courts, as well as the grass Padel courts
            soccer field and grass surrounds;
           • installation of the artificial turf for the
            play area;
           • design and installation of the fencing
            around the courts, with the exception
            of the padel courts, where imported
            custom kits were used;
           • design and installation of lighting for
            night time play.
