of birding at Silver Lakes was an
Funknown. I arranged a meeting with
Henk Booysen, CEO of Silver Lakes HOA,
to ask him a few questions regarding
what the HOA has in store for the birding
community of Silver Lakes.

Questions and answers
Q: What is the total area of Silver Lakes?
A: Approximately 250ha
Q: What is planned for the Bird Club?
A: The Bird Club, the Photographic Club
and Field Excursions will fall under the new
Environmental Club that will be launched
soon. The aim behind this is to do away
with the individual clubs and instead to
incorporate people that are nature lovers
or outdoor enthusiasts in one club, no
matter their age or expertise.

Q: When will the Environmental Club
host its first meeting?
A: In the first week of July.
Q: You sound excited about the new club.
What will the club offer people?
A: We plan to have expert guides visit
Silver Lakes and take small groups of
people through the game park for bird
