“Perhaps the best place to start is by getting a
good definition,” explains Ballantine. “There are many
definitions of smart cities: such as, a city that uses
technology and planning to create a sustainable, safe
and connected environment for its citizens. However,
a smart city also integrates other elements of daily
living for better efficiency. Ultimately, it’s very much
about the people in the community and how we can
empower them through the application of technology.”
