SANBS Blood Drives
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS)
aims to collect an average of 3,000 units of blood
every day nationally. It is through planned,
sustainable blood drives at companies, organisations
and institutions that they are able to achieve this
collection target.
To help bolster SANBS blood stocks, Polofields Crossing
shopping centre has been hosting monthly blood
drives for a few years now. Of all the donors who
participated in the Waterfall City blood drives between
1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024, 247 donations were fit
for use, potentially saving 741 lives!
This month, Waterfall Corner will be hosting two blood
donation days on 10 and 11 August, while you can donate
at Polofields Crossing on 31 August, 10:00 – 16:00.
Did you know:
- The SANBS encourages all blood donors to give blood every 56 days.
- The one pint of blood donated by each donor, is separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma.
- Each donation can therefore save up to three lives.
