Our involvement spans projects like river clean-up initiatives, events and the impact the results have made.
The Polofields Crossing
Annual Book Fair
The annual Book Fair at Polofields
Crossing in support of HospiceWits, ran
over three days in May this year, with all
proceeds going towards HospiceWits’
services in Johannesburg and Soweto.
The event offered a variety of pre-loved
books, puzzles, games and family-
friendly activities, including a children’s
corner, carousel rides, Lego tables, and
face painting.
Highlights included the “Blind Date with
a Book” and the sale of Waterfall City
resident Trevor Sinclair’s book, We Called
Rhodesia Home. The book centres around
how Rhodesians, as pioneers, came
to the country and details the life and
adventures of a typical Rhodesian.
SuperSpar sold excellent food, and
Reddam House Waterfall provided
performances and storytelling.
Amazingly, 2,315 books were sold, raising
R58,155.50 for HospiceWits in sales and
donations. Many thanks to all the book
donors who made this event possible.
