ESTATE NEWS

doctors in the South African private sector.
It was launched as a Mandela Day initiative
in 2016, to honour the legacy of former
president Nelson Mandela by doing good
and changing the lives of those in need. OHH
        recruits hospitals, surgeons, anaesthetists and
paramedics to provide free surgery and post-
operative care, and also takes care of all the
other arrangements and payments of extra
expenses. All the medical personnel involved,
from the surgeons to the rehab teams, work
pro bono while the private hospitals sponsor
most of the theatre time and in-hospital
stays. X-rays, blood work-up and other special
        investigations by respective service providers
are also done for free, while the prostheses
such as hip and knee replacements and other
implants are sponsored by relevant medical
        companies.

Each entrant received a pack containing an
official virtual challenge t-shirt, access to
the My Virtual Challenge digital magazine,
a face buff and a medal. Cornwall Hill estate
entrants also received a red ribbon with their
pack that entitled them to very welcome
refreshments after the walk. Roman’s Pizza
is a frequent supporter of estate events, and
once again, we extend our thanks to them as
well. The drinks were ice-cold and the pizzas
hot and tasty and they were just what was
needed to replenish the walkers' reserves
at the end of the morning. The coffee truck
also did a healthy trade in iced coffees and
cappuccinos on the morning, as people
caught up with acquaintances, friends and
neighbours. It was good to see people in the
        community connecting with one another
once again after what seems like too long a
        time.

The spring walk follows a scenic five km route,
