This medium-sized eagle thrives in
open savannas and grasslands, where
it can effectively scan for prey such
as rodents, lizards, and even snakes
(as its name suggests). Black-chested
snake eagles are soaring specialists,
using thermal updrafts to remain aloft
for extended periods while searching
for prey on the ground below. Once
a target is identified, it dives down
swiftly in a direct attack.
