A small, colourful bird, the Cape
Canary is a common sight in the
Cape fynbos. Its cheerful song can
often be heard echoing through
the hills. Primarily a granivore, it
also consumes insects. It builds
a domed nest in a tree or shrub,
and both parents share the
responsibilities of nest building,
incubation, and feeding the young.
Known for its beautiful song, which
is often used in bird-keeping.
