GRASSLAND LANDSCAPING
Recently, St Mary’s School
called on Life Landscapes
to assess the gardens and
present ideas for a new
landscape footprint for
the school. Previously,
the school had relied
on dedicated parents
and staff to care for the
school gardens. The
decision to incorporate
veldgrass gardens was
made by the professional
team in conjunction with
the school. Phase 1, the
‘sports area’, is in its first
full season after planting
(see photographs in late
summer). The Landscape
Studio produced the
landscape plan for hard
and soft landscaping, while
Oscar Lockwood of Life
Landscapes, in conjunction
with nurserymen, chose Watching sport at St Mary’s with the new grassland in the

aryanne Lansdown, Business
Manager at the school, said they
Mwere concerned about the final
turfgrass sportsfield being converted
into an artificial surface, and hence
the decision to plant the surroundings
generously with SA indigenous and
water wise plantings, creating a natural
appearance. Sloped lawn areas were also
introduced for spectator viewing.
