temporary on-site nursery for storage of
all soft landscaping material.
Endemic Developments was also
responsible for the installation of a
wireless, battery-operated irrigation
system using pop-ups and energy-
efficient rotary nozzles. There are 15-20
sprinklers per station. Water Spot
Centurion branch was the supplier of all
irrigation materials.
Construction and installation
sequence
The ‘beach’ sand and thatch umbrellas create a relaxed atmosphere around the lagoon Warden says the size and complexity of
the project required careful planning, and
the installation was undertaken in the
following order:
• bulk earthworks;
• running of the irrigation ring main;
• setting out the position of the
walkways;
• topsoil and planting;
• 100 m of paving installed per day for
the 980m walkway around the lagoon;
• importation and placing of silica sand
for the ‘beaches’.
