BUSINESS FEATURE
Kensington Green is eco-friendly and the first fully recyclable artificial grass in South Africa.
FULLY RECYCLABLE ARTIFICIAL GRASS
The January 2022 issue of Landscape SA featured an article on the launch of
Easigrass’ Johannesburg showroom, headed up by Jonty Kirkby of Real Green and
James Carr of Over the Edge Landscaping.
he latest development within Easigrass is a
change of management at the Cape Town
Tdealership and new premises at Airport
Industria, which is centrally located to serve Cape
Town and surrounding areas. These premises also
include a distribution centre and large warehouse,
supplying artificial grass to Namibia, the Garden
Route, Port Elizabeth and East London.
Operations will be run by Kirkby and Tom Nell, both
of whom have existing Easigrass dealerships in South
Africa. Easigrass will continue to offer its services to
the Cape Town region, as well as the entire Western
Cape and Garden Route through its well-appointed
dealer network.
New initiative
Easigrass’ new initiative is the introduction of fully
recyclable artificial grass, a first for South Africa. The
Easigrass Kensington turf product is its go-to product
in the market and by changing its primary backing
from the standard rubber latex to a new GRE backing
material, it becomes a 100% recyclable product and
as such, it is eco-friendly. This new Kensington Green
is currently the only artificial grass type that is free of
any rubber latex or polyurethane.
The green primary GRE backing with fully
recyclable transparent coating breaks the traditional
black backing appearance, with the yarn, primary
backing and coating all capable of being fully
blended with melt granulation and re-used, making
it 100% recyclable. This technique, besides having
the major advantages of being 100% recyclable and
therefore eco-friendly, also has a stronger tuft lock,
greater durability and better water permeability; it is
also softer and easier to install.
