Trichomes are hairs on the leaves of Tillandsia which trap moisture
against the leaf. Plants from hot, dry conditions have dense trichomes
that can make the plant appear silvery and fuzzy. Mesic plants have
green, smooth looking leaves. Many plants have pseudo-bulbs that
create beautiful shapes, such as T. caput medusae and T. streptophylla,
and some flowers are very fragrant.
