          2022 ILASA AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE



          The 2022 ILASA Awards of Excellence took place in September at Kievits Kroon
          in Pretoria, with the central theme of “Acknowledging our Heritage for a Smart

          Future.”  Merit Awards were presented in the categories of Research, Technology
          and Publications, and Planning and Design. Awards of Recognition and Awards of
          Commendation were also presented.

          MERIT AWARD WINNERS

          Category 1: Research, Technology and Publications

          Winner:  African Journal of Landscape   across  the  African  continent.  It  is  a
          Architecture – Bernard Oberholzer and   well-conceived journal  that provides

                                                                     Second Place: African Landscape Network – IFLA Africa
                                                                     The African Landscape Network (ALN) is an online, map-
                                                                     based project aiming to showcase a landscape network
                                                                     of  individuals  and  projects in  Africa.  Two  key aims  of
                                                                     the platform are to connect organisations, individuals
                                                                     and professionals working on landscape programmes,
                                                                     projects and issues in Africa. ALN is  also a frame  of
                                                                     reference by various individuals and stakeholders
                                                                     about a broad range of landscape matters.  The ALN
                                                                     is  searchable,  making  it  a  useful  tool  for  finding  more
                                                                     specific  information.  It  has  been  designed  to  make  it
                                                                     easy for individuals to contribute to an ever-growing
                                                                     database of people and best practice study cases that
                                                                     advance the field of landscape architecture and heritage
                                                                     conservation across Africa.
